Kashmir attracts cinema, television industry again

Kashmir’s enchanting landscape is again enticing cinema and television industry with shooting permissions sought from Jammu and Kashmir government witnessing a steady increase.

Permissions granted by the state’s tourism department forshooting films and TV productions in Kashmir during the last three years wentup from 29 in 2016 to 75 in 2018. In 2017, 50 shooting filming permissions wereapproved.

   

This year so far, the department has granted 19 permissionsto various production houses.

Kashmir’s beauty has mesmerised big production houses ofBollywood including Kabir Khan Films Mumbai that shot scenes for the film “83”here. Scenes of movies ‘Race 3’ featuring Bollywood superstar Salman Khan werealso filmed in Kashmir.

The other Bollywood movies partly shot in Kashmir includeManmarziyan, Sargoshiyan, Notebook, Romeo Akbar Walter, Myakut, Shikara-LoveLetter by Vinod Chopra Films and LialaMajnu by Balaji Films.

Some productions houses have also chosen to filmadvertisements in Kashmir. Some of them are Wills Life Style by IKP ProductionMumbai; Ad Film of Nestle Munch by Jump Films; Ad  of Bajaj Dominar by MY Productions and ImranKhatri productions; Ad of Mahindra TUV Car by Method Films production Mumbai;Ad Bajaj Avenger by Crazy Few; Ad film Maruti super carry; Raymond’s Ad by IKPproductions Mumbai.

Television shows like Tourist art and Culture of Kashmir andLadakh—show of star plus and Life OK, ‘Naam Karan’ Star Plus,SadabaharNagmeRizwankeSaath Zee Salaam, Arial India and Savdhan India TV serialby Tariq Khan Films.

Among the other television shows shot in Kashmir are YehMeraIndia by Salt Media Mumbai, a show by Cantilo pictures, The Family Man Amazonseries by D2R films and The calling by Medium Rare Productions Mumbai.

Publishing house Outlook also chose Kashmir for shooting atravel film. Thai TV serial Himalayan Embrace and album song ‘Heeriye’ andTraveller show by Wion has also been shot in Kashmir, besides a web series onBollywood connection with Kashmir.

Besides Bollywood, regional production houses also travelledto Kashmir for filming enchanting scenes here.

Kannad movies ‘ElliddheilliThanaka’ and ‘Gara’, ‘Hyper’,Tamil film ‘SarvamThallaMayam’, Telugu movie ‘SrirasthuSubhamasthu’, Oriyoromance ‘Diwanahele To Pain’ and Bhojpuri cinemamovie and ‘Raja Hindustani’have scenes filmed in Kashmir.

Some short films have also been shot in Kashmir whichinclude Nargis, Khel, Ghalib, PremaBiksha, Jalebi Circle of Love, I am not aTerrorist, Hamid, Heaven, Noor, Battle of Sarahgarhi, ‘I’, Aspire to Inspire,Sun Burn AmmaThappaExcept One girl, White Paradise and EkChoti se Pyaar.
