LG Sinha reviews power situation

Jammu, Apr 20: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha Saturday chaired a review meeting of the Power Development Department (PDD).

During the meeting, various matters about power supply during the upcoming summer months and the progress of key projects and schemes were discussed. The LG discussed the power situation and reviewed the progress of key power projects.

   

He took stock of the measures taken to curb AT&C losses, capacity additions, and the progress registered on smart meter installation.

Addressing concerns over power theft, the LG stressed the need for heightened enforcement efforts on the ground.

He directed to streamline the process for new power connections for the ease of consumers.

The meeting also discussed the progress on the underground cabling project for the grid connectivity of the Amarnath Yatra (from Rayil Pathri to Amarnath cave shrine and from Sangam Top to Panjtarni).

The LG instructed the officials to ensure timely completion of work before the commencement of the yatra.

He directed the officials to ensure adequate availability of power during the summer.

The LG also stressed raising awareness on the ‘PM-Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana’ scheme through which the households will be able to save electricity bills as well as earn additional income through the sale of surplus power to DISCOMs.

Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo; Principal Secretary, Finance Department, Santosh D Vaidya; Principal Secretary, PDD, H Rajesh Prasad; Principal Secretary to LG, Mandeep Kumar Bhandari; officials of J&K power DISCOMs; chief engineers and other senior officers attended the meeting.
