Poonch, Apr 7:   District Magistrate Poonch Yasin Muhammad Choudhary Sunday ordered the opening of Mughal Road for the movement of vehicles from Monday onwards.

An order in this respect has been issued by the district magistrate in which it has been mentioned that single-lane traffic would be allowed from Poonch to Shopian on Monday.

The road has been closed for the past three months due to the accumulation of snow in the winter season after which the J&K Mechanical Engineering Department started snow clearance work that was completed in the last week of March. However, the road restoration was delayed due to landslides that hit the Mughal Road on Thursday near Chatta Pani.

Meanwhile, the District Magistrate Poonch ordered the opening of the road for the movement of vehicles from Monday onwards.

In his order, the magistrate mentioned about regulated timing for the movement of vehicles from Poonch to Shopian side on Monday. Alongside this, he has also asked the Traffic Police, Police from the district as well as Sub Divisional Magistrate Surankote to ensure the deployment of an adequate number of personnel for regulated movement of vehicles on the road.
