Omar, Mehbooba for exemplary punishment to culprit; Sajad takes up issue with Governor

Two former J&K Chief Ministers Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti have demanded exemplary punishment to the guilty in the alleged Bandipora rape incident, while People’s Conference chairman Sajad Lone has taken up the matter with Governor Satya Paul Malik.      

Lone made a series of tweets on the incident and said herequested the Governor that protestors should not be dealt with force.

   

“The tragedy in . . . as beastly it is merits serious socialintrospection. We need to seriously ponder on this mad sickness on the prowl.We need to work hard to rediscover the moral foundations of our society,” Lonetweeted.

“Talked to honourable Governor and requested that the perpetratorof the ghastly crime against a three year child b strongly dealt with. And alsorequested that protestors not b dealt with force. These protests r natural andinstinctive outpouring against a heinous crime,” he said in another.

National Conference president and former CM Omar Abdullahsaid J&K police should fast its investigations. “The rape of a child . . .is a travesty. @JmuKmrPolice must ensure a speedy investigation with only oneconsideration and that is to identify the guilty, prepare a watertight case& ensure exemplary punishment to those responsible,” he tweeted.

Former Jammu and Kashmir CM Mehbooba Mufti expressed shockon the reports of rape of the minor girl. “Mortified to hear about therape of a 3 yr old girl. . . What kind of a sick pervert would do this? Societyoften blames women for inviting unwanted attention but what was this child’sfault? Times like these, Shariah law seems apt so that such paedophiles arestoned to death,” she said on Twitter.
