Security heightened across Kashmir ahead of R-Day

Srinagar, Jan 20: In preparation for the upcoming Republic Day celebrations, security has been significantly bolstered across Kashmir while the authorities implemented a comprehensive security plan to ensure the smooth conduct of events and to safeguard against potential security threats.

Officials from the security establishment collaborated to deploy additional personnel and fortify key areas, including the venue for the main Republic Day function.

   

The increased security presence is aimed at maintaining law and order, preventing untoward incidents, and safeguarding the safety of the people during the national celebrations.

The security arrangements encompass various layers, with a particular focus on vital installations, crowded areas, and sensitive locations.

Stringent checks and surveillance measures have been put in place to monitor and control the movement of people and vehicles.

The strategic deployment of security forces includes paramilitary personnel, Police, and specialised units equipped to handle any contingencies.

Checkpoints have been set up at key entry points, and security personnel are conducting thorough inspections as part of the security drill.

In addition to the ground-level measures, technological advancements are being utilised to enhance surveillance capabilities.

CCTV cameras have been installed to monitor public spaces and the intelligence network has been activated to gather real-time information and respond swiftly to any potential threats.

The authorities have urged people to cooperate with security personnel, follow designated routes, and adhere to the prescribed security protocols during the Republic Day celebrations.

They have also emphasised the importance of remaining vigilant and reporting any suspicious activities to the authorities.

The heightened security measures are in line with the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) adopted for major national events to ensure the safety and security of the citizens.
