The teachings of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji promotes spiritual progress of humankind, Raina said. “The thoughts of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji encourage us to live with the ideas of peace and brotherhood in our lives. Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji while leading the life of a simple householder always gave the special importance to service as a means to attain ‘Ek Omkar Satnam, Karta Purakh’. His thoughts and teachings continue to inspire millions of people across the globe. The motive of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji was to build up an enlightened person and dignified society. This motive cannot be fulfilled by making people not only religious, but they should deserve to live a social and political life in a right way” he said.
The UKSPF statement invoked the teachings of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji “Manas ki Jaat sabhe eke pehchanbo” which means recognise whole human race as of one caste and “Deora masit soi, pooja namaz ohi” which translates as Temple and Mosque are the same, pooja and namaz are the same.
While recalling these teachings, UKSPF welcomed the handing over of bodies of the two civilians killed in an encounter at Hyderpora in Srinagar on November 15 to their families. “These times call for humanity and oneness, something that Sikhism has always preached for. The UKSPF also takes this opportunity to request the Hona'ble LG, J&K to issue directions to the administration to handover the body of third civilian killed in the same encounter as well” the statement said.
