Soldier, lady doctor among 4 test positive in Jammu

A lady doctor and a para-regiment soldier were among four persons tested positive for Covid19 in Jammu division on Sunday, prompting authorities to seal several areas in Samba and Jammu districts.

The authorities have declared areas in Talab Tillo, JeevanNagar-Jawahar Nagar (Satwari), Lower Roop Nagar in Jammu district, and Sapwalin Samba district as Red Zones. This is the first positive case in Sambadistrict.

   

The soldier who had come home on March 19 on leave from Agrawas checked on his arrival by the doctors and was advised to stay in-door as apreventive measure. He completed home quarantine during which he developed nosymptoms.

“He had no symptoms. His test has confirmed he is Covid19positive,” said Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Samba, Rajinder Sambyal.

The solider has been shifted to the isolation ward and allnine members of his family members including two children have been shifted toJammu Government Medical College for testing.

LADY DOCTOR TESTED POSITIVE:

A lady doctor posted at Garhi Primary Health Centre (PHC) inUdhampur has also tested positive.

The authorities have started tracking contacts to establishwherefrom the lady doctor contracted the virus. She is a resident of Jammu. Thearea has been sealed in Jammu where this positive woman lives.

Pertinently, an employee from the PHC Garhi and closerelative of the woman who died recently in Tikkri was also tested positive ofthe deadly virus.

The lady doctor’s sample was also taken with other staffmembers after the woman died of Covid19 in Tikkri.

“106 contacts traced and picked up, 46 high risk contacts,rest low risk contacts, 43 sampled so far, 18 to be sampled tomorrow. Morecontacts being searched. Vital clues received. Aggressive containment andsampling in Tikkri red zone. Cooperate to avoid spread,” District MagistrateUdhampur, Piyus Singla, tweeted.

BATRA PATIENT TESTS POSITIVE:

A resident of Lower Roop Nagar undergoing treatment in BatraHospital on the outskirts of Jammu has tested positive.

“He had liver-failure problem and other ailments. He has nospecific travel history though he went to Delhi three months back,” saidMedical Superintendent (MS) GMC Jammu, Dara Singh.

CONTACT OF SRINAGAR’S RELIGIOUS PREACHER TESTS POSITIVE:

Meanwhile, another youth from Narwal-Pain area falling inSatwari was tested positive of Covid19. He has been shifted to the ChestDisease Hospital at Bakshi Nagar. The area where he lives has been sealed bythe police department.

According to the Corporator of the area, the person hadallegedly come in contact with the religious preacher who died of Covid19 inSrinagar.
