Sopore gunfight|Bodies of 2 militants recovered

Bodies of the two militants who were killed after a 45-hour-long gunfight in Sopore were recovered from the encounter site on Saturday.

Deputy inspector general of police (north Kashmir range)Suleiman Chowdhary identified one of the deceased militants as Tahir Ahmadalias Tahir Moulvi of Warpora, Sopore.

   

He said another militant is probably a non-local and bothwere affiliated with Jaish-e-Muhammad outfit.

Senior superintendent of police SoporeJavid Iqbal saidsearches were underway in the area and the encounter site is being sanitized.

The gunfight broke out in Usman Abad Mohalla of Warpora,Sopore, on Thursday morning.

During the gunfight, houses of Muhammad MaqboolNajar andMuhammad Akbar War were reduced to rubble and several other surrounding housessuffered damages.

Station house officer of DangiwachMudasirGeelani and his twosecurity guards were also injured near the encounter site on Thursday.

Meanwhile, local residents clashed with the governmentforces that were leaving the area after the operation. The protesters peltedthe forces with stones. The forces fired teargas canisters and shotgun metalpellets into the protesters, injuring many youths.

Sopore town, meanwhile, observed a shutdown against thekilling of a militant, AamirRasoolKaboo of Arampora, Sopore, who and aPakistani militant were killed in KalantraKandi area of Kreeri, Baramulla, onThursday.
