Sub-zero temperatures, shallow fog continue in Kashmir

Srinagar, Dec 12: Sub-zero temperatures and shallow fog continued in Kashmir and the Meteorological Department predicted dry weather till December 16.

“Shallow to moderate fog is likely to continue at many places of Kashmir division,” the MeT officials said.

   

“The mercury settled at minus 1.5 degrees Celsius, 3.3 degrees Celsius above Monday’s temperature of minus 4.8 degrees Celsius which was this season’s lowest so far,” the MeT officials said. “Today’s temperature was 1 degree Celsius below normal for this time of the year in Srinagar.”

They said that Gulmarg ski resort in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district recorded a low of minus 3.5 Ski degrees Celsius against minus 3.6 degrees Celsius the previous night and the temperature was 0.7 degrees Celsius above normal at the resort.

The MeT officials said that Pahalgam in Anantnag recorded a low of minus 1.5 degrees Celsius against minus 4.7 degrees Celsius the previous night and it was 2.3 degrees Celsius above normal for the health resort.

They said Kokernag recorded a minimum of minus 2.3 degrees Celsius against minus 2.4 degrees Celsius on the previous night and the temperature was below normal by 1.2 degrees Celsius for the place.

The MeT officials said Qazigund recorded a minimum of minus 2.6 degrees Celsius against minus 3.4 degrees Celsius the previous night while the minimum temperature was 1.1 degrees Celsius below normal for the area.

They said Kupwara in north Kashmir recorded a low of minus 2.4 degrees Celsius against minus 4 degrees Celsius the previous night and it was 0.7 degrees Celsius below normal.
The MeT officials said Jammu recorded a minimum of 9.8 degrees Celsius against 9.7 degrees Celsius the previous night and it was below normal by 0.6 degrees Celsius while Banihal recorded 2 degrees Celsius, Batote 4.3 degrees Celsius and Bhaderwah 2.6 degrees Celsius.
