UT sees 1 lakh Covid jabs, 55000 tests in single-day

Srinagar, Nov 12: In a bid to slow down and blunt the impact the case rise, J&K Government today pushed up the vaccination speed and number of tests in the UT.

Today the number of COVID19 vaccine shots administered in J&K crossed 1 lakh mark. As per the official bulletin on COVID19 issued by the Government said that 100888 vaccines were given on the day in 20 districts. In Srinagar district alone, nearly 17000 vaccine shots were given. A senior health official said the health department had given instructions to increase the coverage of vaccination and door to door teams were also deployed. He said the instructions had been ordered by the government to speed up and cover all the people who had not yet taken their second dose.

   

The number of tests had also been increased today and crossed 55000. With 55738 tests, the number of positive cases detected 158. Of these 73 were from district Srinagar. The positive percentage of cases dropped 0.28, lower than the positive percentage of the other days of the week wrapping up.

No death or case of Mucormycosis was reported today.

Among the distrcts Baramulla had a spike and its new cases reached 31 today. The government said 105 people had recovered and with these recoveries, the number of active cases reached 1364. A senior health officer said the testing had been increased in market places and the people who had a valid vaccination certificate were exempted from testing. The tests have also been increased in market places, he said.
