Gulmarg, Feb 21: A 26-year-old Adil Khan, draped in a stunning Snow Leopard costume, stole the spotlight during the 4th edition of the Khelo India sports event held at Gulmarg on Wednesday.
Adil, a postgraduate, decided to play the role of the enchanting snow leopard voluntarily, aiming to bring joy to both the athletes and the gathered audience. Talking to Greater Kashmir, Adil said that the motive behind playing this character was to bring joy to the audience.
“I did not charge the organising authorities anything for playing this character. I decided to do it voluntarily for the athletes and the audience to cheer them,” Adil said.
The J&K Lieutenant Governor (LG) accompanied by Mos Home Nisith Pramanik inaugurated the 4th edition of the Khelo India event at Gulmarg.
Speaking at the occasion, J&K LG said that the local athletes and those who have come from another state to participate in the event must have dedicated years to prepare for this moment.
“I understand that this day holds immense significance for all the athletes participating in the ‘Khelo India Winter Games. I wish that all their hard work pays off,” LG Manoj Sinha said.
As the event unfolded on Wednesday morning, the Snow Leopard took centre stage, becoming a delightful focal point that charmed both spectators and participants. Adil, while immersed in the costume, could not see the audience clearly but received numerous appreciations for his unique contribution.
“I remained draped in this costume, and many people approached me and appreciated me for playing this character,” Adil said.
“It made me happy to see the positive response from the onlookers.”
Adil’s gesture aimed to infuse joy not only among the audience but also among the participating athletes.
The infectious energy and creativity of this Srinagar boy left a lasting impression, adding a touch of magic to the Khelo India event held at the snowcapped meadows.
The organisers also commended Adil for his initiative in bringing a unique and delightful element to the event.
