200 thrombolysis performed: DHSK

Directorate of health services Kashmir (DHSK) said that over 200 thrombolysis, the life saving emergency procedure for heart attack victims, have been performed at hospitals.

In an effort to handle cardiac emergencies at peripheral hospitals, thrombolysis is performed on a routine across Kashmir Division’s peripheral hospitals, since 2016, a press statement of DHSK said. Thrombolysis is the breakdown of blood clots formed in blood vessels, using medication used in ST elevation, myocardial infarction, stroke, and very large pulmonary embolisms.

The department has achieved 115 thrombolysis at district hospital Anantnag, 43 at district hospital Pulwama, 25 at district hospital Baramulla& 12 at district hospital Leh under the supervision of well-trained ER staff.
