Hundreds of workers, including doctors and paramedics working under the National Health Mission (NHM) in Kashmir's health institutions, Tuesday said their salaries have been withheld for the past five months.
They added that in absence of salary, they were facing immense hardships. "We are finding it hard to feed our families in absence of wages," they said. "Our children are suffering. Nobody is listening to us."
They said that Finance Department recently claimed to have released Rs 2 crore as salary for the doctors and para-medical staff. "We fail to understand why our salary is being withheld if Finance Department has already released the funds," they said.
"Those without salaries since July last year, include allopathic and ISM doctors, paramedics, health workers, ANMs and helpers."
