Different doctors' associations on Saturday decided to boycott the All-Parliamentary delegation which is visiting Kashmir on September 4.
"As part and parcel of the society we believe that J&K is not an issue of development or an administrative issue or merely a law and order problem. It is purely an internationally accepted political dispute which needs to be addressed politically," said a joint statement issued by the associations.
The statement said all the doctors' bodies including Doctors Association Kashmir, RDA SMHS and Associated Hospitals and Society of Dental Surgeons (SCD) JK were apolitical and "we suggest that it would be better that main political stake holders be consulted to make the dialogue meaningful and end the ever ending cycle of violence in Kashmir".
The statement said: "As doctors we have been witness to the killings, hundreds rendered blind, and around 10000 injured and whole population kept caged in their homes for last 60 days. The injured include even 3-4 years old children, elderly women and men .More than 100 ambulances have been damaged by security forces."
The statement said the communication blockade and media gag has added to the miseries of people.
"We appeal to all authorities at the helm of affairs to immediately stop the brutal use of force and show some respect to humanity. More importantly we appeal the international community to take cognizance of day in and day out trampling of basic human rights in Kashmir and press for peaceful political end to this dispute," the statement said.
