Bandipora village awaits PHC for past 10 years

The residents of north Kashmir’s Bandipora village on Tuesday appealed authorities for completion of Primary Health Center (PHC) at Madvan.

The residents of Madvan said foundation stone for the PHC was laid ten years back in 2009, and since then they are awaiting its completion.

At present PHC in the village is working from Panchayat Ghar without any proper infrastructure and adequate staff. Only two doctors are catering to a huge influx of patients from a dozen villages. The residents said due to it they are facing difficulties and most of times have to travel kilometers for treatment done in Sumbal or Srinagar.

“We appeal government to conduct speedy construction of the building, so that the people will get facilities available in their own area rather than going to far-off hospitals,” said a group of villagers from Madvan.

When contacted, deputy commissioner Bandipora, Khursheed Ahmad Sanai he will look into the matter.
