COVID-19 | Next 15 days crucial for Jammu district: Health Deptt

Jammu: The Department of Health Tuesday termed the next 15 days as crucial about the COVID-19 situation in the Jammu district.

“We have recorded an increase in COVID-19 positive cases. Yesterday, the number of positive cases in the district was 19 and today again the number is the same,” an official of the Department of Health said cautioning about the gradual increase in COVID-19 cases given the marriage ceremonies.

“We are monitoring the situation in Jammu district and, accordingly, door-to-door vaccination has started,” he said. “Mostly, the infected people are locals, and in many cases, families are infected.”

The official said that the people reporting COVID-19 positive had attended marriage ceremonies.

“Therefore, the next 15 days are crucial,” he said. “We apprehend Delta variants in many cases, but they are recovering from the virus because of double doses of COVID-19 vaccine.”

The official said that they had completed 65 percent vaccination of the second dose.

“The sampling has been intensified, and a door-to-door campaign has also been launched,” he said.

The official said that they do Google mapping of the infected area in case there are five cases from one place and the area is declared a “micro-containment zone”.

“We believe the cases may go up to 30 cases per day during the marriage season. Hence, the situation is important to monitor and enforce observation of COVID-19 guidelines in crowded places,” he said.
