To have first hand appraisal of developmental scenario at SKIMS, the chief secretary BVR Subrahmanyam on Saturday conducted extensive tour of the institute. He was received by director SKIMS Dr Omar Javed Shah.
The chief secretary reviewed functioning of the institute and took review of ongoing infrastructural works, said a statement. Apart from detailed interaction with all HODs of the institute, he had on-the-spot visit of various prestigious projects like State Cancer Institute, OPD block, Medical and Surgical Emergency, Library block, STP and adjoining areas. He directed that all projects should be completed in time to facilitate necessary facilities for patients. Later the director SKIMS gave a comprehensive overview of ongoing development projects and detailed functioning of SKIMS in a power point presentation to the chief secretary in presence of HODs and other officers of SKIMS.
In his address the chief secretary appreciated the director SKIMS for administrative caliber and assured full cooperation and availability of sufficient funds to meet demands projected by HODs during their interaction, the statement said.
He urged the director to make a comprehensive proposal of various issues pertaining to manpower, space, equipments and drugs. He stressed on research through external funding and focus on tertiary care. He also desired that autonomy of the Institute which has a glorious past should be retained..
