Health Deptt organises Geriatric Conference

Directorate of Health Services, Kashmir, organized National Geriatric Conference in collaboration with Geriatric Society of India (GSI) and Govt College of Education, Srinagar.

The event was part of commemoration of World Elder AbuseAwareness Day, according to a statement.

   

Director Health Services, Kashmir, Dr Kunzes Dolma, who wasChief Guest on the occasion, said, “Directorate of Health Services, Kashmir iscommitted for the health and well-being of the geriatric population”. Shecommended the efforts put in by Geriatric Consultant Dr Zubair Saleem for theadvancement of Geriatrics in Kashmir.”

Special Guest Dr Aabha Chaudhary, Chairperson, AnugrahaCentre on Ageing, in her address said, “I am glad to see that such conferencesare being held in Kashmir. My organization would further strengthen therelationship with Government of Jammu and Kashmir and Ahata Waqar (ElderlyDay-care Centre) for the common issues pertaining to the elderly population”.She also applauded Dr. Zunair Saleem for his relentless services towards thehealth of the elderly. 

Dr Zubair Saleem in his address said, “Government alonecannot come up to all the expectations of elderly health as Geriatrics is stillin infancy in Kashmir. Civil Society too needs to come forward and lend ahelping hand in giving a healthy and dignified life to elderly”.

On the occasion, a book ‘Mere Yaden’, authored by formerHeadmaster Tyndale Biscoe School Roshan Lal Kachru was released as a tribute tothe creative contributions by senior citizens.
