J&K reports first cases of Omicron, three test positive in Jammu

The samples had been taken on November 30 and now RTPCR testing of the entire locality has been ordered.

Srinagar Dec 21: Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday reported the first cases of new Coronavirus variant Omicron with the NCDC New Delhi confirming three cases from a cluster in Jammu, officials said.

An official handout issued by the J&K Health Department while confirming the development, said that the samples had been taken on November 30 adding that RTPCR testing of the entire locality has been ordered now.

"Three Omicron cases confirmed by NCDC, Delhi from a cluster in Jammu. Sample taken on 30th November. RTPCR testing of entire locality ordered, " the handout read.

Officials have urged people to observe COVID Appropriate Behaviour to contain the further spread of the virus.
