‘Make cancer drugs, treatment free in Kashmir’

Moved by manifold increase in number of cancer cases in Kashmir, a Valley based doctor has sent representations to Government of India to make cancer drug and treatment free in Kashmir. 

“As a doctor, I want to bring it to your notice thatthere has been manifold increase in number of cancer cases in Kashmir.Ironically, most of the patients are unable to afford cancer drugs or treatmentcost. Healthcare has been your priority and many schemes for patient care werelaunched by your good self in your previous tenure as PM. It is requested tomake cancer drugs and treatment free for deserving in larger public interest inKashmir,” Dr Showkat Shah, senior consultant, Critical Care Medicine,Khyber hospital Srinagar wrote in his message to Prime Minister on twitter.

   

“Many downtrodden people in Kashmir are suffering fromcancer and are dying for want of treatment. I have also written letters toconcerned authorities at state and central level to make cancer drugs as welltreatment free for patients in Kashmir under various scheduled includingAyushman Bharat scheme,” he said.
