‘Rare nasal surgery at Budgam hospital’
The Department of ENT district hospital Budgam performed a total Septal Reconstruction in a previously operated patient with a total collapse of nasal Dorsum. The reconstruction was done from autologous rib cartilage graft and is the first of its kind in the state, said a statement issued by the department today. The surgery was performed by Dr Shafqat Islam, consultant ENT and Dr Diladhan consultant anesthetist.
"The significance of this surgery, which is the ultimate in septo-rhinoplasty reconstruction, lies in the fact that virtually any nasal cosmetic deformity and nasal obstruction can be corrected by this procedure," said the statement. "This is besides more than 250 septo-rhinoplasties which have been conducted in this hospital."
"For the purposes of patient education and awareness among medical colleagues the procedures have been uploaded on YouTube and can be searched as "Neo-Nose technique"," said the statement.
