COVID-19: Centre scraps this year’s class 12 CBSE exams

Srinagar June 1: The Centre on Tuesday cancelled this year’s Class 12 CBSE exams in view of the prevailing 2nd COVID-19 wave.

This was decided at a high level meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

A government handout issued after the meeting said that after feedback from stakeholders it was decided in the meet not to hold this year’s class 112 exam in view of the prevailing uncertain conditions caused by the pandemic.

The results will be instead compiled “as per a well-defined criteria in a time-bound manner”, the statement said.

It quoted PM Modi saying the COVID-19 was a dynamic situation and while some states were managing the pandemic through effective micro containment measures, others were still forced to enforce lockdown.

“Students, parents and teachers are naturally worried about health in such a situation,” the statement quoted the PM as saying.

“Students should not be forced top appear for exams in such a situation,” the PM said.
