The Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani met Pakistan High Commissioner Abdul Basit here on Monday.
The half an hour meeting took place at the separatist leader's residence here.
Pakistan High Commission sources said that the High Commissioner is likely to meet other separatist leaders also to brief them about the foreign secretary level talks held recently in Islamabad.
The meetings are also likely to be utilized by Basit to invite the separatist leaders to Pakistan Day celebrations on March 23.
Coming in the midst of raging controversy on PDP-led Jammu and Kashmir government releasing another separatist Masarat Alam from prison and the recent foreign secretary level meeting between the two countries in Islamabad, the move could act as yet another provocation for further slowdown on initiatives on improving Indo-Pak ties.
The meeting has happened in the backdrop of India calling off foreign secretary level talks in August last year over the Pakistani envoy's meetings with separatists.
Basit had then publically acknowledged that the separatist Kashmiri leaders invited by him for confabulation before the foreign secretary level talks which were to be held in Delhi at that time.
'I think the objective of the meetings should be that some resolution must be sought on Kashmir. I reminded Basit of the fact that the main issue is Kashmir and unless we come to a firm conclusion on this, circumstances won't improve," Geelani later said.
