2 killed, 2 others injured in Udhampur road accident

Ramban, Apr 9:  Two persons were killed and two others injured in a road accident in Udhampur today.

Reports said the accident occurred when two-motorcycles collided with a truck coming from opposite directions at Dhrad on Dhar Road, Udhampur on the old alignment of Srinagar-Jammu National Highway.

   

Official sources said that all four youth riding on two separate motorbikes were heading towards Mata Sukrala in Billawar paying obeisance on the first day of Navratri. Two persons died while two persons were injured .

On getting information a Police team reached the spot and shifted the dead and injuries to Government Medical College and Hospital Udhampur. Police identified the deceased bike riders as Rahul Singh, 27 son of Rasal Singh and Shubam Samotra, 22 son of Sham Lal both residents of Badolla, Udhampur.

Police identified the two injured persons as Ajay son of Chet Ram resident of Lard tehsil Ramnagar and Sunil Kumar 24, son of Tara Chand resident of Badolla. Both were shifted to GMC Udhampur where after providing medical aid both the critically injured Ajay and Sunil Kumar were referred to GMC Jammu for specialised treatment. Police said the truck involved in the accident was seized and the truck driver was arrested.

Police have registered a case under relevant sections of law at Police Station Udhampur.
