The Government today ordered to revert all Patwaris ( Revenue officials) to their parent districts working in urban areas.
"Instructions have been conveyed vide Government Order No. Rev/NG/52 of 2015 dated 09-03-2015 to all the Deputy Commissioners as well as the drawing and disbursing officers to start the process of calling back all patwaries back to home districts", an official spokesperson said.
They have been asked to submit compliance report within one week.
The spokesperson said that, Minister for Revenue, Javaid Mustafa Mir directed that all Patwaries who were initially appointed in Rural/ Home Districts and are presently serving in other districts in violation of the rules, be reverted to their parent districts.
Reviewing the functioning of the department, the Minister observed that a good number of Patwaris who have been appointed against a particular District Cadre post have subsequently managed their transfers to other Districts and most of them have been adjusted in Srinagar and Jammu Districts.
The Minister observed that as per recruitment rules, the post of Patwari is a District Cadre post and cannot be transferred to other districts as the seniority is being maintained in their parent District where they are actually appointed.
The Minister said that adjustment of these revenue officials in urban areas is also hampering the routine work making people to suffer. He also observed that in absence of sufficient number of revenue officials at the field level the people are also not able to take benefits of welfare schemes that need documents from revenue authorities for seeking benefits.
The Minister accordingly directed that all Patwaries be reverted to their parent districts where they had actually been appointed and are serving outside their parent District.
