A doctor at the Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu has been suspended for alleged negligence which led to the death of a patient. "The principal of GMC Jammu has suspended Medicine Registrar Dr Sushil Pandita for negligence which led to the death of a patient," an official said.
However, the resident doctors association GMC Jammu and associated hospitals have alleged that the suspension was at the behest of 'higher ups' to shield the real culprits. "The death was due to drip reaction and there have been several such instances in the past two years. The doctors had already brought this to the notice of the authorities in the hospital that there was some problem with the drips procured," said Dr Neeraj Sharma president of the Resident Doctors Association GMC Jammu and Associated Hospitals.
