As per details, Engineer Dalbir Kant son of Krishan Lal Sasan resident of Dhangri village of Rajouri was working in Delhi and had come to his native village few days back. Yesterday evening he along with his wife and brother in law went to the River in Dalogra village and while taking bath drowned in it. Soon after the incident, police and locals of the area started rescue operation which continued over night. The rescue operation was intensified today morning with army team also joining in. After searching for more than two hours, the body was fished out of the river in the forenoon.
Meanwhile the locals of the area said that the incident took place allegedly due to the illegal quarrying of river bed by the stone crushers. They said that the location in the river where engineer drowned was only four to five feet deep but due to illegal mining large holes and gaps have created in the river bed and turned it into death traps.
They also demanded that administration should immediately take action against illegal digging of river bed to prevent such incidents in future.
