Hundreds of Panthers Party activists led by Thakur Virender Singh, Ravinder Jamwal, Anil Rakwal and Kailash Mohan today staged a vociferous protest demonstration outside the Directorate of Heath Services (DHS) here demanding action against the employees "indulging in brazen malpractices".
Speaking on the occasion Thakur Virender Singh and Ravinder Jamwal pointed out that it has been reported from various Panchayats all across the Jammu Division that there are scores of employees working in heath department and posted at respective sub-centers who have been indulging in nefarious malpractices adding to the woes of the public.
They maintained that these employees remain absent from their respective places of duty and operate from their homes.
Moreover, they demand fees for attending to the patients and often recover the cost of medicines from them on the pretext of the argument that they do not have free medicines for public distribution, they claimed.
Leaders including Anil Rakwal and Kailash Mohan alleged that the drug control organization has turned a blind eye on several quacks who are openly indulging in illicit medical practices and sale of drugs without any license in many villages all across the Jammu Province.
"It has been reported by several panchayats that these unscrupulous practitioners buy medicines from the market, process them and sell them in small packets to the innocent people and extort huge amount from them in the name of sale and plasticising medicine", they said.
They urged the authorities to take strict action against the 'delinquent officials' failing which the party will be forced to intensify the agitation.
