The doctors at SEIC Model Hospital at Bari Brahmana here performed a rare surgery on a 40-year-old man, suffering from penile cancer.
According to the Medical Superintendent of the hospital, Lal from Gobind Nagar Kathua was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma, a form of cancer in penis seven months ago.
"He had given up all hope after two premier hospitals in Jammu declared him inoperable, given his advanced stage of cancer and advised him to go to Delhi for operation as his case was complex," the MS of the hospital said.
"Financial constraints scuttled his Delhi visit but he regained hope after visiting SEIC Hospital. Here he met Dr Nadeem Niyaz of Surgery department who assured him that they would perform his surgery," the MS said, adding that the surgery was conducted by Dr Niyaz and his team. JLN
