State level convention on ‘Make in India’ held

The majority of speakers at a state level convention hosted by Swadeshi Jargan Manch (SJM) pitched for Swadeshi Movement (make in India) to boost the Indian economy and increase its Gross Domestic Production (GDP).

 For overall development and prosperity of the country, Self-reliance in economy is must, said SJM North West organizing secretary here at a state level convention of the Manch held   here today.

  Pitching for promoting tourism, he said it is a potential industry to produce employment in the country and in particular Jammu and Kashmir. 

"If people are motivated to spend quality time in J&K or other Indian states it will help to generate employment for unemployed and boost economy too," he explained.

 He also called for taping the potential of herbal medicines in Jammu and Kashmir, saying it has most suited climatic conditions for such production.   

 Sat Sharma, MLA Jammu-West who presided over the convention called for revival of traditional cottage industry and    handicraft to generate local                                                   employment.

 Pawan Baru, state convener SJM said that "Swadeshi Jagran Manch is a non-political organization which has taken up the cause of promoting Swadeshi products and adopt Swadeshi agriculture.

Others who spoke in the state convention were Prof. V. Verma, Dean SMVD University, Parveen Kumar, General Secretary Small Scale Industry, Thakur Dass, Retd. Principal and social activist.
