The Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) of Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) today started investigation into Katra helicopter crash incident, which claimed seven lives.

As per sources, two member AAIB team headed by Jasbir Singh, Assistant Director Air Safety and Ramchandran along with Forensic Science Laboratories (FSL) team and local police today visited the Katra crash site.

Sources said that FSL team collected random samples of residue of aircraft for its detail investigation. The AAIB team also recorded statements of eyewitness. The AIBA also asked police to provide written documentation of all the facts and statements it has recorded earlier.

Pertinently, Director General Civil Aviation (DGCA) was asked to initiate probe in the matter. The government also asked DSCA to give necessary recommendations, which will be put in place to avoid recurrence of such tragic incidents in future.
