A Pal of gloom descended on Gho Manhasa as the newly wedded couple killed in the chopper crash in Katra on Monday was given tearful adieu by thousands of people in area of Jammu.  

A large number of locals and political leaders including, Deputy Chief Minister attended the last rites of Arjun Singh Chib and his wife Vandana Chib. The family members wept inconsolably when the two dead bodies were taken out of the house for the last journey.

The village observed complete shut down and hundreds of people standing on the roof tops offered floral tributes to the funeral procession that passed through the streets.

 At the cremation ground a joint pyre was assembled where their mortal remains were confined to flames. Arjun And Vandana had tied the nuptial knot on Nov 18 and had visited the Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine on a thanks giving visit where they were killed in a tragic chopper crash.

 Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh, Choudhary Sukhnandan Kumar, Minister for PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control, MPs Shamser Singh Manhas and Jugal Kishore Sharma, MLA Katra, Ajay Nanda, Vice–Chairman Kissan Advisory Board, D S Chib and several other political leaders were present at the funeral  .

Meanwhile the shri Mata Shrine Board authorities despatched dead bodies of woman pilot, a Delhi based duo of father and daughter Sachin and Akshita Solanki and Aronjit Singh to their family members for performing their last rites.
