Flaying the government for not heeding to the concerns of workers rendering their services under ICDS scheme, CPI (M) state secretary and MLA Kulgam, M Y Tarigami Tuesday cautioned that such attitude has created uncertainty among the ranks of workers and helpers.
"More deplorable is the attitude of the department towards those helpers who are assisting supervisors but are being treated now as surplus after working for years together. These hapless helpers have been pushed to the wall and the government seems insensitive towards their woes as many of them have crossed the age limit and now face serious situation of losing their livelihood," Tarigami said in a statement today.
Tarigami also demanded release of wages of Anganwari workers and helpers pending for over six months.
"Not only should government regularize services of these workers and helpers but also pay incentives to them as is being paid by the Haryana and Kerala governments."
