Chairperson of J&K State Social Welfare Board, DrNirmal Gupta has appreciated union government for revising the Rajiv Gandhi National Crèche Scheme (RGNCS) for children of working mothers.
"Under the revised norms the salaries of the crèche teacher and crèche worker have been enhanced from the existing Rs 1,000 per month to Rs 3,000 and Rs 1,500 respectively and the nutrition charges have been upscaled from Rs 2.08 per child to Rs 12 per child per day," an official handout said.
Under the revised guidelines, it has been made mandatory for conducting regular medical checkup of the children in these centres, at least every three months, and first aid kits have been made mandatory at the centres.
The NGOs running the centres have been asked to arrange indoor and outdoor play material for the children.
Dr Gupta said that there are 694 crechecentres in the State being run by SSWB through 124 NGOs, with the financial support of Central Social Welfare Board.
The NGOs associated with SSWB have also expressed their gratitude to chairperson SSWB besides its executive director Aamir Ali for projecting their demands to CSWB and getting the revision of the norms of the scheme done.
