Terming the killing of unarmed and uninvolved people, especially women, as "against all moral norms", senior CPI (M) leader and MLA, Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami has expressed his deep anguish over such incidents.
In a statement issued on Friday, Tarigami referred to the killing of an elderly woman in Tral area in south Kashmir by armed gunmen, and said: "Such terrorist acts are sheer crimes against humanity and are a grave violation of basic human rights. No religion or ideology can justify these senseless killings".
He urged all the socio-political organizations and the civil society activists to raise their voice against such heinous crimes, irrespective of their political and religious affiliations.
Tarigami also impressed upon the law enforcing agencies not to brush such incidents under the carpet and undertake thorough investigation so that the culprits could be identified, arrested and put on trial.
This should also be ensured that such incidents are not repeated and the people involved do not go scot free, he said.
