CB unearth 17 crores embezzlement in CAPD

According to the FIR registered with CB Jammu that various complaints with regard to misappropriation of ration and carriage funds worth crores of rupees by Tehsil Supply Officers (TSO) Mohore and Chassana in connivance with the Ration dealers and officials of the CA&PD Department, filed by Zarifa Begam, Qamer Din, villagers of village Bagoodas through Numberdar Dharm Singh and villagers of village Shajroo through Ex- Sarpanch Kartar Singh with SDPO Mahore, District Reasi.

On the receipt of these complaints, a preliminary enquiry was conducted by SDPO Mahore and found that a huge amount of Rs. 17.00 Crores had been misappropriated since the last five years, after fraudulently withdrawing the money from the accounts of TSO Mahore and Chassana maintained in J&K Bank Reasi, in the name of carriage charges which were never paid, as ration was never distributed in the respective centers.

It was further found that huge assets disproportionate to the known source of income have been raised by the TSOs /Store Keepers/ Ration store dealers and other officers/officials of the CA&PD department through fraudulent means thereby causing huge loss to the state exchequer.

After the conclusion of the enquiry the matter was referred by SP Reasi to the Crime Branch, for registration of a formal case for in-depth investigation.

On perusal of the enquiry report it transpires that TSOs/Store Keepers/Ration store dealers and other officers/officials of the CA&PD department have, in furtherance of a criminal conspiracy, prepared fake and fraudulent bills worth crores of rupees and swindled the same in order to cause wrongful gains to themselves and wrongful loss to the state  exchequer.

The omissions and commissions, therefore, on the part of TSO Mahore, Chassana/Store keepers/Ration dealers and officers/officials of CA&PD Deptt., prima facie, constitute offences punishable u/s 420,465,466,467,468,471,120-B RPC r/w Sec. 5(2) P. C Act Svt. 2006. Accordingly, a formal case is registered in P/S Crime Branch, Jammu against the above mentioned accused persons and started investigation.

SSP Crime Branch Jammu Mubassir Latifi said that there are so many top level officials are involved and no body can spare who embezelled the money of poor people. JNF
