Light rainfall brings respite for Jammu people

Light rains in parts of Jammu region this morning turned the weather pleasant with the maximum temperature dropping down to 36 degrees Celsius from record 43 degrees Celsius. Jammu was reeling under scorching heat wave for the past one week.

Light rains in parts of Jammu region this morning turned the weather pleasant with the maximum temperature dropping down to 36 degrees Celsius from record 43 degrees Celsius. Jammu was reeling under scorching heat wave for the past one week.

According to the MeT official, a Western Disturbance, originating in the Mediterranean sea has reached this region bringing respite for the people. 

He said that inductive effect of clouds would remain for a day or two, after which the direction of winds would change from eastwards to westwards and the air, will become dry. "Weather would remain pleasant till Wednesday in Jammu and Kashmir and other Himalayan regions."

 Jammu and Bhaderwah received rain in traces, while Katra received 1.2 mm of rain in past 24 hours. There was no rain at Batote and Banihal, the MeT officials added. 

The maximum temperature at Katra settled at 34.4 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature in Jammu and Katra was recorded at 27.3 and 22.5 degrees Celsius, respectively.
