The Government today suspended Amarnath Yatra for one day in view of heavy rush of pilgrims at Baltal Base Camp in Kashmir.
As per officials no fresh batch of pilgrims was allowed from Jammu base camp yatri bhawan Bahgwati Nagar.
Confirming the reports, Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Dr. Pawan Kotwal, said, "We have a capacity of accommodating 8000 pilgrims at Baltal Base Camp, but at present there are more than 15000 pilgrims. So we have suspended the yatra for one day."
Kotwal said that the decision to suspend the yatra was taken on the request of Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB).
On the 13th day of the yatra, 0,116 pilgrims paid obeisance at the cave shrine. Till date 1,55,320 Yatris have received Darshan at the shrine.
