Congress questions BJP over claim of ‘one nation one tax regime’

Jammu and  Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee(JKPCC) Chief Spokesperson Ravinder Sharma today questioned BJP for its claims of implementing uniform tax regime even as the state government continue to charge toll tax on most of the goods at Lakhanpur .

"They have put big hoardings for publicity claiming one nation one tax regime. The party is misleading the people of the state" he said in a statement.

He said that State continue to charge additional toll Tax of Rs 80 per quintal on most of the items and even more on several others at Lakhanpur . He claimed  that the toll levied  would  amount to Rs 900 crores annually. "This Tax is to be ultimately paid by the consumers of the State" he added.

"Why this additional burden on consumers of the State, when the GOI is committed to reimburse the losses if any, on this account of implementing GST?" he questioned. He said that this also runs contrary to Government's claims that the state would benefit around 10,000 crores more from GST.  GKNN
