A woman inspector, posted with Government Railway Police (GRP) was assaulted at Jammu railway station, allegedly by a group of army men on late Saturday night.
"Inspector Anita Chopra was assaulted by the soldiers after an argument over wrong parking of an army vehicle," the GRP officials said.
"Chopra was manhandled by three to four army soldiers and she sustained injuries. She was rushed to the Government Gandhi Nagar hospital from where she was referred to the Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu for specalised treatment," the officials said.
They said the woman inspector objected to the wrong parking of the vehicle by soldiers. "Her objection, infuriated the soldiers and they assaulted her. However, the brave officer managed to snatch identity card of one the attackers.The identity card was submitted to station house officer GRP for investigation," officials added.
After the incident accused fled from the spot leaving her in a pool of blood, the GRP officers have expressed dismay over the unruly behavior of soldiers, who were reportedly in an inebriated condition, they added.
Meanwhile, a FIR has been registered at Police Station GRP- Jammu and further investigations are on.
