Governor N N Vohra celebrated the "Armed Forces Flag Day" at a function held at the Raj Bhavan here today.
The Governor said, "Armed Forces Flag Day is an important occasion for remembering the valiant soldiers who sacrificed their lives for protecting the territorial integrity of the nation."
He lauded the crucial role of the armed forces, both during war and in peace time, and observed that their sacrifices were founded in their bravery, devotion and dedication.
The Governor urged the ex-servicemen among his guests to promote the interests of the society by offering their expertise and suggested to Major General Sunita Kapoor, who retired as Additional Director General Military Nursing Services, to consider working for the improvement of health care of women and children in the rural areas of the State. Governor also urged the decorated soldiers to train the willing youth, particularly girls, for equipping them to join the armed forces.
