Day after threatening posters of militant organization Hizbul Mujahadeen surfaced in Doda district, police swung into action and detained 13 suspect after registering a case.
As per sources, "Doda police received specific information of miscreants attempting to disrupt the democratic process of elections by pasting posters of banned militant organisation Hizbul Mujahadeen in Dhandal and Gurmal area of Kastigarh."
"The message on the posters is directed to prospective candidates not to participate in upcoming Panchayat Election," they said.
Acting upon the inputs, police swung into action and registered a case FIR No 196/2018 u/s 13/20/38/39 ULA 171C/F RPC at PS Doda and started investigation.
"During preliminary investigations some 13 suspects were rounded up and questioned while investigation is going on and some more persons are likely to be questioned," sources said.
They added that Deputy Commissioner Doda, Anshul Garg also visited the area and held a public meeting to regain confidence of people.
Police also launched regular patrolling in the area, conducted meetings with in Dhandal and Kastigarh and assured them to remain steadfast and participate in election without fear as miscreants will be traced soon and taken to task as per law.
Meanwhile, district administration has asked all licensed gun owners to deposit their firearms with the police ahead of the panchyat polls in Doda.
