The anti-corruption bureau (ACB) on Saturday registered a formal case against several officers and officials of revenue department, who had been posted in Mendhar.
As per a press statement issued by ACB, "A formal case has been registered against revenue officers/officials, including Iqbal Singh, then tehsildar Mendhar, Nawaz Ahmed and Janbaz Khan, then patwaris posted in Mendhar, and private beneficiaries, Mohammad Hanief, Mohammad Aslam, Mohammed Yaqoob, Manzoor Ahmed, Mehmood Ahmed, Zahoor Ahmed and Mohammad Latief, all residents of Narole village, and Mohammad Hussain."
The case was registered after an inquiry, conducted by the officials of ACB, was carried out regarding a complaint that was received in ACB police station, the statement read.
"As per the complaint, 200-kanal of state/forest land, falling under Khasra 123, at Narole village Narole, was encroached upon by land grabbers in active connivance with officers/officials of concerned departments. It was alleged that state/forest land has been encroached by land grabbers and revenue officers/officials have illegally attested mutations in their favour," the statement adds.
An ACB official said, "Enquiries revealed that the revenue officers, who were booked on Saturday, by misuse and abuse of their official position, in league with the land grabbers and in gross violation of the rules and norms prescribed under law have illegally recorded and attested mutations."
On the prima facie establishment of offences, a case was registered in police station of ACB, Jammu and an investigation has been taken up, the officer said.
