An awareness programme on the use of Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) machines under Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) was conducted at the directorate of agriculture, Krishi Bhawan, Talab Tillo here on Saturday.
As per the release, PS Rathore, director agriculture Jammulaunched the Voters Awareness Forum (VAF) in presence of nodal officer SVEEPDevinder Singh Manhas and other senior officers of the department on theoccasion.
Nodal officer SVEEP said that the aim of launching VotersAwareness Forums is to create awareness of the electoral process and itsimportance for strengthening democracy.
It was said that VAFs will help in increasing the voterturnout besides encouraging ethical voting among the voters. Various activities were carried out duringthe programme including a hands-on training of EVM and VVPAT by the SVEEP team.
A large number of officers and employees of the AgricultureComplex and Directorate participated in the programme.
The programme was held on the directions of ElectionCommission of India and under the guidance of District Election Officer, JammuRamesh Kumar.
