The Amarnath Yatra is set to break its record after the number of people paying obeisance at the cave shrine crossed the 3.30 lakh mark in the first month.
"On the 30th day of the ongoing yatra, 10,360 yatris paidobeisance at the cave. Till date, since the beginning of the pilgrimage on July1, 3,31,770 pilgrims visited the shrine," an official spokesperson said.
Pertinently, as many as 2,85,006 lakh pilgrims had paidobeisance at the shrine last year, while the number of pilgrims was 2,60,003 in2017, 3,20,490 in 2016, 3,52,771 in 2015, 3,72,909 in 2014 and 3,53,969 in2013.
Meanwhile, a fresh batch of 1,175 pilgrims left Jammu onTuesday for the Kashmir Valley to perform the Amarnath Yatra.
An official said that 1,175 people including women andsadhus, left Bhagwati Nagar Jammu base camp for Baltal and Nunwan camps.
"Of these, 660 yatris are going to Baltal base camp while515 are going to Pahalgam base camp," he said.
So far, 26 pilgrims have died during the yatra. In additionto this, two volunteers and two security men also lost their lives.
The 45-day long annual Amarnath Yatra which started on July1 has been going on smoothly from both the tracks — traditional 36-km Pahalgamand shorter 14-km Baltal route, the officials said.
Till date, at least 3.31 pilgrims have paid their obeisanceat Amarnath cave.
"This is the highest number of pilgrims to visit the caveshrine in the last four years," the official said.
