Amarnath yatra registration begins

Registration of pilgrims for the 46-day pilgrimage to Amarnath cave shrine for 2019 commenced for both Baltal and Chandanwari routes, through 442 designated bank branches of four banks.

Pilgrims can register all across India at the branches ofPunjab National Bank, Jammu & Kashmir Bank and YES Bank.

   

“46 days Yatra will commence simultaneously from Baltal andChandanwari on July 1 and culminate on Raksha Bandhan, August 15,” a Rajbhavanstatement issued here Tuesday said.

Umang Narula, Chief Executive Officer, Shri AmarnathjiShrine Board (SASB) informed that the procedure pilgrims need to follow toregister has been put on the Board’s website, www.shriamarnathjishrine.com.

“Pilgrims need to have a Compulsory Health Certificate andstate-wise list of doctors and institutes authorized to issue such certificateshas been put on the SASB website,” Narula said.

The CEO also informed that persons under the age of 13 yearsor above 75 years and ladies who are more than six weeks pregnant would not beallowed to register for the annual pilgrimage this year.

The government has planned a unique colour coded YatraPermit system this year for the safety of pilgrims.

“QR code enabled unique colour coded Yatra Permits would bedifferent for each day and routes would facilitate the police personneldeployed at the Access Control Gates at Baltal and Chandanwari to regulate theYatra for the relevant date and route,” the CEO added.

He cautioned the intending pilgrims against undertaking thearduous trek without securing a Yatra Permit and the required Compulsory HealthCertificate.

“For ensuring effective security arrangements along thedifficult tracks, only those pilgrims who are in possession of a Yatra Permitwill be allowed to proceed beyond the Base Camps and cross the Entry Gates atDomel and Chandanwari,” Narula stressed.

He appealed to all intending pilgrims to complete thenecessary formalities for registration in advance and obtain a Yatra Permitwell in time, so they do not face any inconvenience.

Pilgrims who propose to travel by helicopter do not requireadvance registration as their helicopter tickets shall suffice for thispurpose.

However, they shall be required to produce the CompulsoryHealth Certificate before boarding.
