Amidst heavy deployment of police, thousands of ReT, SSA and RMSA teachers here on Wednesday took out a massive rally in Jammu to press the government for addressing their genuine demands.

Amidst heavy deployment of police, thousands of ReT, SSA and RMSA teachers here on Wednesday took out a massive rally in Jammu to press the government for addressing their genuine demands. 

The teaching community is on indefinite hunger strike demanding implementation of 7th pay commission recommendations, delinking of SSA salary from MHRD to State head among other demands.

Led by State president Vinod Sharma, teachers assembled at Exhibition Ground Jammu and raised slogans against the "callous attitude" of the government for not redressing their issues.

The agitating teachers when tried to come out of Exhibition Ground towards Jewel Chowk, the police personnel closed the gates of Exhibition Ground from Press Club of Jammu side, but they forced open the gate and marched towards Dogra Chowk where they shouted slogans against the government again.

Then they marched towards the Gummat Chowk, but on the way, they were stopped by police near Traffic Booth, Jewel Chowk.

The protesting teachers had scuffle with the police personnel there and then they marched towards Gummat Chowk, where they were finally stopped by heavy deployment of police personnel.

At near Gummat Chowk Petrol Pump, the teachers shouted slogans again where around 5 of them, 4 male and 1 female, fell unconscious.

The police personnel present on the spot shifted the unconscious teachers to medical college Jammu, where they're given preliminary treatment.

Later in the day, the protesting teachers were removed from Gummat Chowk area by the police personnel.
