Bhartiya Janata Party vice-president and in-charge J&K affairs, Avinash Rai Khanna on Tuesday claimed militancy related incidents in Jammu and Kashmir declined steeply since the state came under Governor's rule.
"And with the decline in militancy, there is peace in Kashmir valley which is BJP's agenda," Khanna told reporters here.
Khanna also hit out at PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti for raising questions over the chargesheet filed by Delhi Police in Jawaharlal Nehru University sedition case in Patiala High Court. Among the accused are some Kashmiri students.
On Monday, Mehbooba took to Twitter targeting national parties, alleging them of using Kashmiris for securing their political fortunes.
"Wonder how many more Kashmiris along with their families will have to pay a price to secure the political fortunes of national parties," Mehbooba had tweeted.
"Timing of the chargesheet couldn't be any more suspicious. When UPA was in power, it decided to send Afzal Guru to the gallows and to this day J&K is paying a price," read another by Mehbooba.
Her last tweet in the series of posts said, "No surprises here. We are months away from the 2019 general election and like always, using Kashmiris to score extra political points with the Indian electorate has become somewhat of a pre – requisite."
Khanna retorted by mocking Mufti's "thinking level".
"I pity on Mehbooba Mufti's thinking level. There is a procedure through which the police file the chargesheet. Moreover, all the accused in the JNU case chargesheet are not Kashmiris. So, I believe, she should not question the credibility of Delhi Police," Khanna said.
"We (BJP) love Kashmiris more than Mehbooba and we respect their sentiments. BJP cannot even think of using Kashmiris for political gains."
