Senior BharatiyaJanata Party (BJP) leader and Councillor from Sakti constituency Gyal P Wangyal was on Tuesday elected as fourth Chief Executive Councillor of powerful Ladakh Autonomous Hill development Council (LAHDC), Leh.
The election was held at Council Assembly Hall, Leh, whereelected Councillors unanimously elected Gyal P Wangyal as Chairman/CEC ofLAHDC, Leh.
Presently deputy CEC of LAHDC Leh, Wangyal was front runnerin the race for the top post after the post fall vacant due to resignation ofincumbent JamyangTseringNamgyal (JTN), who was elected as Member of Parliamentin the recently held LokSabha polls.
CEO, LAHDC/Deputy Commissioner Leh, AvnyLavasa who is alsothe election officer declared the results and later presented winningcertificate to the newly elected CEC Gyal P Wangyal.
BJP has a majority in 26-member LAHDC-Leh after winning 17of the 24 seats. Congress managed only six seats while National Conference gottwo. One seat was bagged by an Independent.
