City schools take out awareness rally

In continuation of “Swachhata Hi Seva” Campaign, Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) on Monday organized an awareness rally in education department in which many schools of the city participated.

The students of different schools viz. SRML Model Higher Seconday School, Parade, Girls Higher Secondary School, Mubarak Mandi, Jammu, Hari Singh Higher Secondary School, Jammu, Central Basic Higher Secondary School, Purani Mandi, Jammu, Jullaka Mohalla, Higher Secondary School, Jammu etc participated in the rally. 

   

The rally started from Ranbir Higher Secondary School, and after passing through different areas of the city culminated at Mubarak Mandi, Jammu.

Earlier, the rally was flagged off by Arvind Kotwal, Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation and Rakesh Kumar Srangal, Director, School Education, Jammu.

During the rally, the students as well as officers and other staff of JMC and School Education Department cleaned the whole route of rally, spreading slogans of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and also appealed to the general masses to avoid the use of polythene carry bags.

The refreshment was also provided to the participants.

Dr. Zaffar Iqbal, Municipal Veterinary Officer, gave a practical demonstration on Solid Liquid Resource Management (SLRM) wherein it was demonstrated as to how to manage the household waste by keeping two coloured dustbins (Blue and Green) for dry and wet waste.

While speaking on the occasion, the Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation, stated that since the charity begins at home, so, it is the duty of every citizen to put in every possible effort for maintaining proper sanitation and hygiene in their respective areas.

He further appealed to the students to take pledge for creating awareness about importance of Swacchhata at their individual level so the aim of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan is achieved.
